Susan Lynn Barta, age 57, of Mankato, died March 4, 2019 at Pathstone Living after a courageous battle with cancer and surrounded by her dedicated and loving family.

Memorial service 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Belgrade United Methodist Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm Tuesday at Northview North Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or to an organization of the donor’s choice.

Susan Lynn was born on April 16, 1961 in Sioux City, Iowa to Richard A. and Colleen R. (Bomgaars) Breyfogle. She was a 1979 graduate of North High School in Sioux City and attended Mankato State University in Mankato. Sue worked for Willard Insurance Agency for several years before her employment with Frandsen Bank (formerly Valley Bank) in the late 1980’s.

On October 11, 1986, she was united in marriage to Timothy Sam Barta at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. They had resided in Mankato and Sioux City and returned to Mankato in 1994. Sue continued her employment at Frandsen Bank in the retail and personal banking customer service.

Sue was a member of Belgrade Avenue Methodist Church and spent her time with her family and friends. Sue was a supportive, fantastic, loyal, trusty worthy, dynamic and always smiling friend.

She will be lovingly missed by her husband, Tim, her daughter, Sarah; brother, Tom Breyfogle and wife, Jennifer Fleming of Topeka, KS; brothers- and sisters- in-law and their families; several aunts and uncles, including Marlene and Pete Young of Colorado, David and Willa Bomgaars of New Jersey; and many special cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and an aunt and uncle Charlotte and Fred Kennedy; and two brothers-in-law.

Sue and her family would like to express sincere appreciation for the support and guidance from Belgrade United Methodist Church and for the many visits, prayers, and support from the Frandsen Bank and Trust family.
