Jim Floyd

James “Jim” L. Floyd, 57, of Kalispell, “moved to his home in Heaven” on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 12:35 a.m. after his month-long battle with pancreatic and esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by family, love and prayers.

James is survived by his wife, Shawna Floyd; his children — Nichole Graham, Brandon Floyd, Meghan Andrews, and Austin Floyd; his grandchildren — Chase, Evie, and Liam Graham; his siblings — Gary Floyd, Michael Floyd, Pat Floyd, Bob Floyd, Cindy Wingert and extended family on both sides. He was such a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to all.

He was born in Sioux City, Iowa, in 1960 to William and Georgia Floyd. James joined the Navy at 18 years old and served 13 years split service. He served as both an Intelligence Specialist and an Avionics Technician from California to Spain. While stationed in Spain, he met his soon-to-be wife, Shawna. They spent the following 27 years of adventure together. James moved his family to Kalispell in 2001 when he joined the FUN Beverage team as the Warehouse Operations Manager at Fun Beverage Inc.

James also attended Southern Illinois University and completed his BA. He had a servant’s heart, volunteering to coordinate and participate in many nonprofit events in Flathead Valley. He was also a trustee on the Smith Valley School Board for 6 years. During his Navy career, he was a volunteer CPR instructor.

Anyone who knew James knew that he had an unfathomable love for the game of golf. He spent hours in the sun and rain to play his favorite game. He also loved to play racquetball, softball, ride horses with his lovely bride, and do anything outdoors with his family. His greatest joy was taking his kids on their first hunt, camping, fishing, shooting, hiking, etc. His loving and giving heart for his family and friends will forever be remembered.

Thank you to the medical team at KRMC that took such good care of James in his last days, and took such good care of his family. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be sent to the Wings Regional Cancer Support www.wingsnwmontana.com

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. at FUN Beverage, 175 Schoolhouse Loop, Kalispell.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
