Jeff Ross died in a car accident. I don't know the dates or details. What I do remember is that in 1980, I was riding on a Greyhound bus and I struck up a conversation with the girl across the isle. She was telling me about her fiance "Jeff Ross" and how romantic and sweet he was, and I was relating to her about a really sweet friend I had named Jeff Ross, also. Neither one of us put 2 and 2 together. When the bus arrived at the depot in Sioux City, I got off first. There was "my Jeff"! I ran up and hugged him and (believe it or not) asked him why he was there. Then his fiance got off the bus. She saw me hugging "her Jeff". Hey! That's my Jeff!" "Oh My GOD! He's my Jeff, too!" The poor guy was terrified until we assured him that it was all good. As the song says "Only the good die young". You were one of the truely good ones, buddy! I can't ever remember a time when you had anything bad to say about anyone--and you were always there to keep me from destroying the "unbreakable" Heidleburg press a second time!
